| Sweet and Sour Seitan |
A rich nourishing dish that is perfect for cold weather.Ingredients:1 cup seitan finely sliced (you can buy this already prepared)1 onion finely sliced 1 cup mushrooms finely sliced 1 tablespoon sauerkraut 1 teaspoon mustard 1 tablespoon sesame oil 1 tablespoon mirin rice wine 1/2 cup spring water 1-2 teaspoons shoyu 1/2 cup fresh or frozen green peas Preparation:Heat a skillet on a low flame.Add the oil and then turn the flame to high. Add the onions and aute for about 1-2 minutes. Add the seitan and saute for another 2 minutes. Add enough water to cover the bottom of the skillet. Add the sauerkraut, mirin and mustard and mix through. Season with shoyu. Cover and cook for about 5 minutes. Add the peas and cook a further minute. Mix gently and serve with piping hot brown rice and freshly blanched broccoli. |
